Kia Motors Corp. has released sketches of its redesigned flagship K900 sedan, which will be launched later this year.

The 2019 model is more differentiated from the smaller Optima than the outgoing K900 that was launched in 2012. The redesigned vehicle was jointly developed by Kia’s design office in South Korea and its U.S. design studio in Irvine, Calif., to help the slow-selling car appeal to a more global audience.

Kia says the K900’s design was inspired by the dynamic flow of nature and energy, based on a concept called "Gravity of Prestige.” The grille features 176 jewel-like cells, which Kia says create an illusion of energy accelerating away from the center of the car. The tail lights and rear exhaust housings are surrounded by chrome.
