Hyundai-Kia Chief Design Offer Peter Schreyer is this year's winner of the prestigious lifetime design achievement award from the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology.
Prior recipients of the DIO's EyesOn Design award include Sergio Pininfarina, Harley Earl, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Jack Telnack, Shiro Nakamura and Chris Bangle. A key feature of the honor is that recipients are selected by a panel of prior winners.
Schreyer joined Kia from Volkswagen's Audi brand in 2006. His assignment was expanded last year to include Hyundai. At Volkswagen he is credited for penning the original Audi TT sport coupe, VW Golf IV and VW Eos.
At Hyundai/Kia, Schreyer has led development of highly regarded new design identities for both Korean brands.
