Kia Motors Corp. will reveal its new flagship K900 sedan at the Los Angeles auto show in November. The 2015 model goes on sale in the first quarter of 2014.
Based on the Genesis rear-wheel-drive sedan from parent company Hyundai Motors Co., the K900 will be available with either a 3.8-liter V-6 that makes 290 hp or a 5.0-liter V-8 engine rated at 420 hp. Both engines will deliver their power through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The car, which Kia unveiled in concept form at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show, went on sale as the Kia K9 in South Korea last year and is marketed elsewhere as the Quoris.
Kia told its U.S. dealers last month that it hopes to sell about 5,000 K900s in the American market next year. It also indicated that not all Kia dealers will be allowed to offer the car. Earlier reports speculate the model will retail for $50,000-$70,000.
