Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. has opened a new Advanced Product Creation Center at the company’s headquarters complex in Gaydon, England.

The carmaker invested £500 million ($616 million) in the 583,000 sq-ft facility. About 13,000 Jaguar and Land Rover designers, engineers, manufacturing specialists and purchasing personnel will be housed at the center.

This is the first time all these functions have been co-located, which JLR expects to encourage greater collaboration throughout the development process. It also is the first time Jaguar and Land Rover design studios have been under one roof.

JLR claims the center is one of the most sustainable non-domestic buildings in the U.K. All of the building’s power will come from renewable sources, including about 10% from roof-mounted solar panels.
