Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUV will include an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates a whopping 368 hp, reports jlwranglerforums.com.
The brand-centric enthusiast website, which cites a document FCA filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Admin., says the redesigned Wrangler will offer a choice of two engines when the vehicle is launched early next year.
The base engine will continue to be FCA’s Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6, which produces 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. A diesel engine is expected to be added later.
Both engines will be mated to eight-speed automatic transmission. The outgoing model offered a choice of a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual.
