Jeep Recalls Airbags that Could Blast Fasteners into Passenger Cabin
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling about 8,000 of its 2018 model Jeep Compass SUVs that could hurtle loose fasteners into the front seat passenger area during a crash.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is recalling about 8,000 of its 2018 model Jeep Compass SUVs that could hurtle loose fasteners into the front seat passenger area during a crash.
All but 1,000 of the vehicles are in North America. FCA says loose fasteners may have fallen into some airbag modules during the assembly process. If so, those pieces could be blasted into the passenger compartment when the airbag is deployed in a crash.
FCA urges affected owners not to use the front passenger seat until the defect is repaired. The company says it will arrange for dealers to provide loaner vehicles on a case-by-case basis.
FCA will notify customers in December. But the company says repairs won’t begin until it can obtain a sufficient supply of replacement airbag modules.
