Johnson Controls International plc’s automotive seating and interiors business, which will complete its spinoff on Oct. 31 as Adient Ltd., will shift its operational headquarters from Milwaukee to the Detroit suburb of Plymouth, Mich.
CEO Bruce McDonald and about 100 corporate and administrative staffers will remain at the company’s corporate headquarters in Milwaukee.
Adient already houses about 1,000 employees in Plymouth, which has functioned as the operational headquarters for JCI’s automotive businesses for years. Adient will add a second facility in Plymouth at year-end for as many as 600 people, including 100 new legal and finance hires, Crain’s Detroit Business reports.
The company anticipates revenue of about $17 billion in the fiscal year that began Oct. 1. Adient, like Johnson Controls, is domiciled in Ireland for tax purposes.
