Sales of new passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles in Russia leaped a “remarkable” 31% to 102,500 units last month, the Moscow-based Assn. of European Businesses reports.

It was the biggest one-month gain since 2011, when sales jumped 40% in June and 32% in August.

The market’s top 10 brands all recorded huge increases last month. Growth was led by Lada (+29% to 21,000 units), Kia (+49% to 15,300), Hyundai (+31% to 8,800) and Renault (+51% to 7,900).

AEB predicts slower growth ahead as dealers sell off their supplies of discounted 2017 models.
