Isuzu to Open Truck Plant near Chennai
Isuzu Motors Ltd.'s India unit has signed an agreement with the southern state of Andhra Pradesh to erect a 15,000-rupee ($278 million) light commercial vehicle factory there by early 2016.
Isuzu Motors Ltd.'s India unit has signed an agreement with the southern state of Andhra Pradesh to erect a 15,000-rupee ($278 million) light commercial vehicle factory there by early 2016.
The facility in Sricity near the automotive hub of Chennai, would eventually produce 120,000 units for local and export markets. The Indian facility will be Isuzu's second plant outside Japan after its factory in Thailand.
The company also reported is in talks with Hindustan Motors Ltd. about assembling Isuzu-brand SUVs and pickup trucks from kits in India until the new plant opens.
