Isuzu Motors Ltd. has agreed to buy 58% of Kenya-based General Motors East Africa, which imports Chevrolet-brand vehicles and makes light-duty Isuzu trucks. The unit sells vehicles in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Last year GM East Africa built about 3,300 vehicles and generated sales of about $178 million, The Nikkei reports.
The deal, which could be finalized in April, won’t affect operations outside Kenya by a GM-Isuzu joint venture that sells about 27,000 commercial vehicles per year across Africa.
