Infiniti Names Design Director for London Studio

Nissan Motor Co.'s Infiniti brand has named Simon Cox to become design director of the new studio it plans to open in London in October.

Infiniti is creating similar regional design centers in San Diego, Calif., and Beijing as the brand strives to sharpen its image and design language.

Cox, who studied design at the Royal College of Art in London, has done automotive design work at Ford, General Motors, Isuzu, Lotus Engineering and Peugeot. At GM's Cadillac division, Cox created the Art & Science design language, the 2008 CTS sedan and the well-received 2009 Converj concept.
