Nissan Motor Co.'s Infiniti brand will use next month's Frankfurt auto show to present the Q30 compact luxury car in concept form. The company released a sketch of the car on Thursday.

The sedan, which is expected to debut in production form near the end of next year, aims to attract the "modern, young-minded premium customer," according to Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen.

The Q30 will establish a new entry-level luxury model at the bottom of Infiniti's lineup. Nissan says the car will extend the brand's new design direction, which debuted this week with the swoopy 2014 Infiniti Q50 small sport sedan.

The Q30 will use the Daimler AG's "modular front architecture" (MFA) small-car platform, which was developed under a partnership agreement between the German carmaker and Renault-Nissan. Daimler's Mercedes-Benz Cars unit uses the MFA to underpin its small A- and B-Class sedans, CLA sport sedan and future GLA crossover.
