Hyundai Motor Co. offers up an extreme demonstration of its self-driving technologies in a new video released on Tuesday.
In the demo, a pack of five Hyundai Genesis sedans follows a lead car around the company's California desert test track. The drivers activate their car's cruise control and lane-keeping features, then climb out through the vehicle's sunroof and jump onto a passing flatbed truck.
The driverless cars continue to follow the lead car, whose driver blindfolds himself. Finally, all six cars screech to an automatic halt behind the flatbed truck.
Hyundai rigged otherwise standard cars so their lane-keeping systems wouldn't turn off. Not surprisingly, the company insists that civilians not try this stunt on their own.
