Hyundai Motor Co. will introduce its second-generation Genesis large sedan at the Detroit auto show in January and put the 2015 model on sale in the U.S. by spring.
The company released a rendering of the model on Thursday that show tauter styling compared to the current model, with a long hood and a short front overhang and trunk. The car is the first to adopt what Hyundai calls "fluidic sculpture 2.0."
The company says it spent $475 million and four years to completely restyle and re-engineer the car. The new Genesis will be the first Hyundai car to offer all-wheel drive.
The changes are intended to make the car more competitive with German premium cars such as the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the company says.
