Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling 155,000 of its Sonata midsize sedans in the U.S. to fix a short circuit issue that could prevent the airbags from deploying and seatbelts from tightening in a crash.
The callback involves cars made during the 2011 model year. Hyundai blames the problem on a short circuit in the airbag control module. The company is aware of four cases where airbags failed to activate in a cash.
Hyundai is still working on a solution to the problem. The recall is expected to begin in mid-April.
