Hyundai Motor Co. and its Kia Motors affiliate say they are adding another 660,000 vehicles in South Korea to a global recall related to faulty brake switches. The companies add that further recalls in other countries are possible.

The new campaign affects Hyundai Genesis and Azera large sedans and Kia Forte compacts produced between 2007 and 2011.

Those cars are equipped with a brake switch that could fail, causing the brake lights to stop working and make it impossible to deactivate the cruise control system when the brake pedal is depressed.

In April, the same problem prompted Hyundai-Kia to recall more than 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S. The company subsequently launched smaller recalls in other markets, including 160,000 vehicles in South Korea.
