Honda Motor Co. says it will introduce next-generation versions of its Honda Fit minicar and Acura TLX midsize sedan at the Detroit auto show in January.

The third-generation 2015 model Fit will feature a new Earth Dreams Technology powertrain and a major redesign that offers "spirited" styling, a more spacious interior and connected-car technologies. Honda will produce the Fit for the North American market at its new plant in Celaya, Mexico.

The Acura TLX, due in the second half of 2014, will replace the TL sedan in the middle of the luxury brand's lineup. Honda says the 2015 model will feature a sportier suspension and more "emotional" look with sport sedan proportions. The car will be debut with two new engines, an updated automatic transmission and option all-wheel drive.

Acura is dropping its TSK sedan next year and will launch the 2015 model year with three more clearly positioned cars: the entry-luxury ILX, midsize TLX and flagship RLX performance sedan.

Honda will reveal more details about both new models on Jan. 14.
