Honda Targets 5.2 Million Sales in New Fiscal Year

Honda Motor Co. tells its top suppliers it aims to sell 5.15 million vehicles in the 12-month period that begins April 1, up 3% from its estimated volume for the current fiscal year, according to The Nikkei.

The carmaker may adjust its goal before officially announcing the target when it reports fiscal 2016 earnings in April.

The Nikkei notes that Honda had expected to sell 6 million vehicles in the current fiscal year. But the strain disrupted new-model development and spawned an embarrassing series of recalls for the Fit minicar. The problems prompted the company to refocus on manufacturing quality and product design issues.
