Honda Motor Co. says it invested $267 million and hired 300 more workers to help launch production of its redesigned Accord midsize sedan on Monday in Marysville, Ohio.

Most of the spending went to install an advanced, 342-robot welding line. The company also equipped its nearby engine plant in Anna to make the 2018 Accord’s 1.5- and 2.0-liter engines. The latter powerplant is turbocharge, a first for the Accord lineup.

Honda began making the Accord at Marysville in 1982 and has continued to do so without interruption. Output has surpassed 11 million units.
