Honda Motor Co. is spending $70 million to convert a former logistics center in Marysville, Ohio, into a small plant that will begin building the Acura NSX supercar in 2015.
Honda's new Performance Manufacturing Center will employ about 100 assemblers. The company's nearby engine factory in Anna, Ohio, will make the NSX's V-6 engine.
The Ohio facility will be the sole source of the supercar, which will be badged as an Acura in the U.S. and a Honda in the rest of the world. The company produced the original NSX at a succession of three factories in Japan between 1990 and 2005.
