Honda Motor Co. plans to introduce its Acura luxury brand in Russia as early as next year, according to The Nikkei.
The Tokyo-based newspaper, which cites no sources, says Honda may also may debut Acura in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine next year and in Brazil in 2015.
The company aims for initial annual sales of 10,000 units in those markets, The Nikkei says. Last year the U.S. accounted for about 90% of Acura's 178,000-unit worldwide volume. The newspaper notes that luxury brands from rivals Toyota (Lexus) and Nissan (Infiniti) are already available in at least 50 countries.
