John Mendel, executive vice president of Honda's U.S. sales operation, tells the news service the change was announced internally in April by CEO Takanobu Ito.
Mendel didn't say why English was selected. But Bloomberg notes that Ito began a year ago to localize more of Honda's business decisions.
