Honda sold 360,100 Accords last year compared with 342,000 for the Camry. When fleet sales are includes, Camry outsold Accord 408,500 units to 366,700 unit, as it has for the previous 11 years.
Honda has been focusing on retail sales, which are more profitable and help resale values. Last year, fleet sales accounted for less than 2% of Accord sales compared with 16% for Camry. Automotive News points out that both ratios are well below the roughly 25% average for General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.
