Henkel Opens Huge Adhesive Plant in China

Henkel AG & Co. KGaA describes its new 1.6 million-sq-ft (150,000 sq-meter) adhesives plant in Shanghai as the world's largest of its kind.
The German company, which has operated factories in China since 1990, expects the new facility to produce as much as 428,000 metric tons of adhesive annually for the automotive and consumer goods industries. The plant combines several existing operations in the Shanghai area.
Henkel generates 45% of its sales and employs 55% of its workers in emerging markets. The company's intends by 2016 to boost global sales to €20 billion ($27 billion), with half the volume coming from developing countries.
