Hella Group has opened a $90 million automotive lighting complex in Irapuato, Mexico, it describes as one of its most advanced facilities anywhere in the world.

The plant is the family-owned German company's fifth factory in Mexico. It will produce 1.2 million headlamps and 2.4 million tail lamps annually for carmakers in North and South America.

Hella says the facility requires no water supply, uses an emission-free production system and is equipped with low-power LED interior lighting developed by the company.
