Head of GM Southeast Asia Steps Down
Martin Apfel, president of General Motors Co.'s southeast Asia unit, is leaving the company on July 31.
Martin Apfel, president of General Motors Co.'s southeast Asia unit, is leaving the company on July 31. He also heads GM Thailand and Chevrolet sales in that country.
The company has been shaking up its Chevrolet operations outside the U.S. GM also aims to boost its relatively small presence in southeast Asia.
Apfel joined the company in 1989 as an analyst for Adam Opel AG in Europe. He has been in his present position since March 2010.
GM says international operations manufacturing chief Jim DeLuca and sales and marketing head Mike Barnes will each assume a portion of Apfel's duties until a replacement is found.
