Harley-Davidson Inc. is recalling 4,500 motorcycles to repair an ignition switch that could vibrate out of the "on" position.

The global campaign involves FXDL Dyna Low Rider bikes made in the first half of 2014. About three in four of the motorcycles are in the U.S.

Harley-Davidson says the problem affects only bikes that have been adjusted by the dealer or owner to rev above the engine's normal 5,600 rpm limit. The company says all reported problems to date have involved bikes fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system.

Dealers will replace the engine mount bracket assembly and ignition switch knob.
