Swedish brake system supplier Haldex SA has named Helene Svahn as CEO, effective immediately.
Svahn is a member of Haldex’s board, professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and head of r&d for Permobil, a Swedish maker of powered wheelchairs.
She succeeds Ake Bengtsson, who has led the company since 2017, guiding it through a bruising takeover battle of bids that year between ZF and Knorr-Bremse that left Haldex independent.
Svahn was chosen to lead the company as Haldex focuses on growth, new technologies and making its core operations more efficient, says Chairman Jorgen Durban. He says the company’s day-to-day operations will be led by deputy CEO Staffan Olsson until Svahn takes over fully on Aug. 12.
