General Motors Co. Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra will receive at least $4.4 million in compensation this year.

Barra, who became CEO on Jan. 15, will receive $1.6 million in salary and be eligible for $2.8 million in short-term incentive plan payments, according to a regulatory filing. GM says a new long-term incentive program will be submitted to shareholders for approval at the company's annual meeting this spring.

Former CEO Dan Akerson and former Vice Chairman Steve Girksy will remain employed as senior advisors. Akerson will receive an annual cash salary of $1.7 million and be eligible for $3 million in short-term incentive payments. Girsky's annual cash salary will be $600,000, and he will be eligible for $750,000 in incentive payments.

GM expects Akerson and Girsky will be employed less than a year and their salary be paid on a prorated basis. Short-term incentive payments to Akerson also will be prorated, according to the filing.

Dan Ammann, who became GM's president on Jan. 15, will have an annual salary of $900,000 and be eligible for short-term incentive payments of $1.1 million. Chuck Stevens, the company's new chief financial officer, will have a salary of $700,000 and be eligible for $875,000 in short-term incentives.

Executive pay at GM had been subject to U.S. Dept. of the Treasury approval following the company's 2009 bailout. The U.S. sold the last of its stake in GM last month, ending government oversight.
