General Motors Co.’s GMC unit is launching new off-road AT4 badging with a special version of its Sierra pickup truck.
The Sierra AT4 also gets a 2-inch factory-installed suspension lift, skid plates, off-road tuned Rancho monotube shock absorbers and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Other off-road features include hill-descent control and a traction-select system that allows drivers to choose from preset drive modes for different terrain and weather conditions.
The off-road pickup also comes with a multi-color head-up display, a rear-camera mirror and surround-vision that provides a bird’s-eye view for tight maneuvering. Exterior styling changes include a body-color grille surround and black chrome accents.
The six-function “MultiPro” tailgate that GMC announced earlier this month for the base Sierra will be available on the AT4 model. Buyers also will have the option of adding the lightweight carbon fiber pickup bed that is being introduced on the top-end GMC Denali package.
