The June 4 event will allow shareholders to call in or log in but not physically attend the executive presentations. In recent years, GM’s annual meetings each have attracted only a few dozen shareholders.
GM’s proxy statement says the company decided to go digital to cut costs and build attendance. When Ford Motor Co. did the same thing in 2017, it quadrupled shareholder participation—to 147, Automotive News reports.
