General Motors Co. intends to recall 91,000 Pontiac and Saturn cars in the U.S. to fix a sensor that may prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.
The campaign will target select 2006-2010 model Pontiac Solstice and 2007-2010 Saturn Sky sports cars.
The issue is a sensor within the front passenger seat that may become bent or damaged, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The sensor is intended to deliberately switch off the airbag if a child is occupying the seat.
NHTSA says GM is still developing a solution to the defect and hasn’t decided when to notify owners.
