The planned rollout is down slightly from last year, when GM launched 18 new and updated models in China. The carmaker sold a record 4.04 million vehicles in China in 2017, up 4%.
GM’s sales of crossover/SUVs jumped 37% last year in China. Such vehicles will represent about half of the 2018 launches.
China has been GM’s largest retail market since 2012. Cadillac, whose sales zoomed 51% to 175,500 units in 2017, is expected to lead the growth again this year. Buick is the carmaker’s best-selling nameplate in the market, tallying 1.18 million units last year.
