GM to Launch 15 Vehicles in China This Year

General Motors Co. says it will introduce 15 new and refreshed models with its joint venture partners in China by the end of the year.

The planned rollout is down slightly from last year, when GM launched 18 new and updated models in China. The carmaker sold a record 4.04 million vehicles in China in 2017, up 4%.

GM’s sales of crossover/SUVs jumped 37% last year in China. Such vehicles will represent about half of the 2018 launches.

China has been GM’s largest retail market since 2012. Cadillac, whose sales zoomed 51% to 175,500 units in 2017, is expected to lead the growth again this year. Buick is the carmaker’s best-selling nameplate in the market, tallying 1.18 million units last year.
