General Motors Co. says it will invest a combined $552 million at four component plants in New York and Ohio over the next two years.
More than half of the investment, $296 million, will go to GM’s Tonawanda Engine facility in Buffalo, N.Y., for equipment for future engine programs. GM plans to add 67 jobs at the plant, which currently employs 857 people.
Two other New York facilities will get a combined $38 million: $32 million is earmarked for a plant in Lockport to produce cooling components, and $6 million will go to a Rochester plant to make powertrain parts. Lockport and Rochester will retain 320 and 20 jobs, respectively.
In Ohio, GM’s Parma Metal Center will get $218 million for new presses, dies and subassemblies. The facility will retain 140 jobs.
