General Motors Co.'s three Chinese ventures sold a record 257,800 vehicles in the country in February compared with 215,100 units a year earlier.

Domestic sales by SAIC-GM-Wuling surged 29% to 142,600 units. Shanghai GM's volume grew 9% to 109,900 units. Demand for FAW-GM's trucks rose 39% to 5,100 units.

Demand in China for Wuling-branded microvans jumped 32% to 137,000 units last month. GM's Buick brand climbed 13% to 59,200 units, but Chevrolet was unchanged at 46,300 vehicles. Cadillac's volume zoomed 91% to 4,400.
