GM Sales Growth Slows to 6% in China

General Motors Co. sold a record 278,300 vehicles in China last month compared with 261,800 units in April 2013.

But the 6% increase was GM's smallest monthly gain in 14 months.

Domestic sales by Shanghai GM rose 6% to 128,600 units in April. Demand for SAIC-GM-Wuling vehicles grew 7% to 144,700 units. Truck sales by FAW-GM fell 4% to 4,900 units.

GM reports that sales by its Buick and Chevrolet brands in China rose 3% to 68,700 units and 6% to 53,800 units, respectively, last month. Cadillac sales jumped 49% to 6,100 cars.
