General Motors Co. is launching six more global recalls to repair a variety of safety problems in nearly 823,000 vehicles built in the last five model years. About nine in 10 of the vehicles are in the U.S.
The new campaigns bring GM's total so far this year to 60 recalls covering a record 28.8 million vehicles.
The largest of the new callbacks involves 475,200 vehicles with power seat height adjustors that could loosen and allow the seat to move up and down freely. The recall covers 2010-2012 model Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossovers, 2011-2012 model Chevrolet Camaro sport coupes and 2011-2012 model Buick Regal and LaCrosse sedans.
A second recall covers 151,900 cars and trucks with seat tracks that may not have been properly welded. GM believes fewer than 1% of the vehicles have the problem. The campaign applies to 2013-2014 model Cadillac ATS small sedans and Buick Encore small crossovers; 2014 model Chevrolet SS sport sedans and Caprice large sedans and Cadillac CTS midsize sedans and CLR plug-in hybrid coupes; and 2014-2015 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra large pickup trucks.
The third campaign will reprogram a turn signal control module in 127,200 cars. The recall covers 2011-2013 model Buick Regal and 2013 Chevrolet Malibu sedans.
A fourth callback will fix an electrical problem that could limit or cut off electric power steering assist in 65,300 of GM's 2014 model Chevrolet Impala sedans.
Two other recalls involving a combined 3,100 vehicles will tighten a front suspension bolt in 2014-2015 model Chevrolet Spark minicars and replace roof rail airbags in 2015 model Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon SUVs.
