GM Recalls Another 507,000 Vehicles

General Motors Co. said on Friday it will recall 506,900 vehicles in four separate global campaigns.
The biggest campaign will recalibrate software that controls the transfer cases in 466,900 of its four-wheel-drive pickup trucks and SUVs. GM says the system could randomly shift into neutral, thus cutting power to the wheels or allowing a parked vehicle to roll away.
The recall covers 2014-2015 model Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra large trucks and 2015 model.
GM also is calling back 33,100 of its 2013-2014 model Chevy Cruze sedans to replace faulty driver airbag inflators that could spray shrapnel into the cockpit.
In two smaller recalls, GM will inspect and if necessary replace the windshield wiper modules in 4,800 of its 2013-2014 model Chevrolet Caprice police cars and Chevy SS sport sedans; and replace improperly manufactured rear shock absorbers in 2,000 of its 2014 model Chevy Corvette sports cars.
