General Motors Co. expects later this month to begin recalling 124,000 cars and pickup trucks in the U.S. because their front-row seats could come loose in a crash.
Affected models are the 2013-2014 Buick Encore small crossover, Cadillac ATS compact sedan and Chevrolet Trax small crossover; 2014 Cadillac CTS large sedan, ELR electric coupe, Chevy Caprice large sedan and Chevy SS sport sedan; and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra large pickups.
GM says an incomplete weld could allow the seat to break away from its track in a crash, thus increasing the likelihood that the seat's occupant could be injured. The defective seats were made by Lear Corp., according to the company.
