General Motors Co. has chosen Chuck Stevens to take over as its chief financial officer today.

General Motors Co. has chosen Chuck Stevens to take over as its chief financial officer today.

Stevens, 54, had been CFO of GM North America. He succeeds Dan Ammann, who becomes GM's president today.

Stevens joined GM in 1983 and has held financial positions for GM units in Canada, Mexico and South America. He also has worked the company's operations in China, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Replacing Stevens as CFO of North America is John Stapleton, who had been CFO of GM's global manufacturing unit.
