General Motors Co. has begun supplying North America with the Chevrolet Sail supermini made by its joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp. in Yantai, China.

Automotive News reports that GM shipped 2,900 of the cars last week for Mexico and the Caribbean. China-sourced Sail sedans already are being sold in southeast Asia and South America. The car is not offered in the U.S.
