General Motors Co.'s asset management unit has promoted Dhivya Suryadevara to chief investment officer, effective Aug. 1.

Suryadevara is currently director of investment strategy and fixed income for the unit, which manages $85 billion in assets, mainly for the company's pension plans.

She succeeds Walter Borst, who will become CFO of Navistar International Corp. next month. GM says other members of its investment team will assume Suryadevara's current duties.

CFO Dan Ammann will take on Borst's other roles as the asset unit's chairman and CEO. The title of president, which Borst also held, will be eliminated.
