Global Cars Sales Dip 1%

Worldwide sales of light vehicles slipped to 6.84 million units in February from 6.93 million units in the same month last year, LMC Automotive reports. The annualized sales rate also declined slightly to 93.6 million units.

LMC attributes last month’s shrinkage to a 9% drop to 1.72 million sales in China. The decline is due to the timing of the Lunar New Year holiday, which can significantly impact sales results in January and February. Deliveries also fell 2% to 1.30 million units in the U.S.

But those declines were partly offset by a 6% gain to 1.50 million sales in Europe and a 15% increase to 217,300 vehicles in South America.
