Worldwide sales of cars and light-duty trucks are likely to climb 2% to a record 97.3 million units this year, says LMC Automotive.
The market research firm predicts sales gains in China, Europe and South America will offset a 1% decline in North America.
Global deliveries last month rose 7% year-on-year, but only because several markets had extra selling days this year. LMC says the adjusted annualized sales pace in January slipped to 94.8 million units from 95.3 million units a year ago.
