GKN Readies New N. American Headquarters

Next month GKN plc, the U.K.-based global engineering company, will begin preparing a new headquarters for its North American automotive operations in Auburn Hills, Mich.

The 168,000 sq.-ft. complex of office space and design, engineering and test facilities will replace the unit's current 113,000 sq.-ft. headquarters a few miles away.

GKN also expects to increase its full-time workforce there from roughly 300 today to more than 350 by 2016.

The expanded headquarters will consolidate GKN's driveline, sinter metals, land systems and North American service groups. They expect to move into the new facility early next year.
