Former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn issued a video statement today decrying “backstabbing” executives at the company for conspiring to oust him.

Ghosn was arrested on Nov. 19, and charged twice more before being released on bail on March 5. He was returned to jail on April 4 after being arrested a fourth time on new charges of financial misdeeds.

Ghosn insists he is innocent of any wrongdoing and demands a fair trial. He also strongly criticizes what he sees as a lack of vision and corporate direction among Nissan’s senior management.

Nissan, which has launched a review of its management oversight protocols, retorts that it has uncovered “substantial evidence of blatantly unethical conduct” aside from any criminal charges.
