Carlos Ghosn says mergers involving the members of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance aren’t a priority but would accelerate their efficiency and cost savings.

“Why not?” he tells BFM Business radio, before adding that mergers aren’t an objective in themselves.

Ghosn, who is chairman of all three companies, has previously touted the merits of mergers to strengthen the synergies among the alliance members. He also has said that the ability to do so is hampered by the French government’s 15% stake in Renault.
