Rheinmetall Group's KSPG unit has started production at a new factory near Shanghai that makes electric throttle valves and pneumatic exhaust-gas recirculation valves.
The German supplier says the facility soon will add production of solenoid valves.
The exhaust recirculation systems will help automakers in China meet stricter carbon dioxide emission standards, dubbed Beijing 5, that take effect there this month, according to KSPG. It says the technology also is a step toward compliance with the more stringent Euro 6 rules that the city of Beijing will adopt in 2016.
