Genesis Hires Former Lambo Designer

Hyundai Motor Co. has appointed Filippo Perini to head its Genesis luxury brand’s advanced design studio in Europe.

For the past four years, Perini was the design chief for Volkswagen AG’s Italdesign unit. He previously headed the design efforts for VW’s Lamborghini ultra-luxury marque, overseeing the styling of the carmaker’s Aventador, Gallarado, Huracan, Reventon and Urus models.

During his 24-year career, Perini also has worked for Audi and Alfa Romeo. Among his credits are the 1995 Alfa Romeo GTV and 2001 8C Competizione.

In his new position, Perini will report to Luc Donckerwolke, Hyundai Motor Group’s chief design officer. Donckerwolke, who joined Hyundai in 2015, also is a VW Group alumnus, with stints at Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and SEAT.
