China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. has released exterior images of its upcoming FY11 SUV/crossover after photos of the vehicle were leaked on the internet.

The FY11 rides on the compact modular architecture that Geely co-developed with its Volvo Cars unit. The platform also carries Volvo’s new XC40 crossover.

Power for the FY11 will come from a turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Front- and all-wheel-drive configurations will be available.

Geely says the CMA platform enabled “true sporting” characteristics, including lowering the front and rear suspensions. Geely previously has said the architecture will accommodate a wide range of body types, powertrains, electrical systems and other technologies.

The FF11 appears to be larger than the XC40. Styling highlights include a coupe-like roofline and quad tailpipes.

Additional details will be announced later, including pricing and a launch date. The vehicle will compete against the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLE.
